What was your favourite part or memory from your wedding day? My favourite part of the wedding was listening to our family and friend’s funny and heartfelt speeches. I wish we had videotaped them. I also absolutely loved that we were able to include our dogs in the ceremony, they’re our family and it was so important to us that they be there. I really loved how personal our wedding was – from the guitar guestbook to the Simpsons donuts to the library card seating chart to marzipan versions of our pets on the wedding cake. The bridesmaids also chose their own dresses and hairstyles and I love how their personalities came through.
Do you have any future advice or suggestions I could share with future brides? (Any ways you saved money, timeline tips, vendors you loved!?) My advice is to take advantage of it when family and friends offer to help! We are very lucky to have generous and talented family and friends and because of that we ended up saving a lot of money and were able to spend more on things that were important to us. It is also really fun to get everyone involved, and most people really want to help! My brother played guitar while I walked down the aisle, Dale’s stepmother made our wedding cake, Dale’s friends played music during the reception, our wedding party and family helped with DIY decorations, I designed all of the wedding stationary and programs and printed them through Vistaprint at a great price. Dale made the website and slideshow. For our decor, cake stands, etc. we hit up thrift stores and even IKEA.
I also suggest hiring vendors who you really trust. I woke up the morning of our wedding feeling so calm and relaxed because I knew I was in good hands. Lisa Prubant and Camille Norton did my hair and makeup and it was such a fun and relaxing morning because I knew they would do a great job and they are so fun to work with.
The staff at Stonefields are amazing and so helpful the day of the wedding as well as the weeks leading up to the wedding day. They are insanely organized and the wedding rehearsal was so informative and really made us relaxed for the big day. I could go on and on about how great our vendors were – I recommend everyone that we worked with for our wedding.
Lastly, don’t stress the little details. I spent months making sure every single little detail was absolutely perfect and the day of I didn’t care at all. I was just having the best time and really enjoying the day.
I’d love if you could tell me about your wedding day from your perspective, or include anything else I could share from your wedding. I had heard from so many brides that the wedding day goes by so quickly – and it’s true. That’s why photography was so important to me. Looking at our photos really helps slow the day down for me and reminds me of little moments that went by too quickly for me to absorb during the day.
